Building material is any material which is used for construction purposes. Many naturally occurring substances, such as clay, rocks, sand, and wood, even twigs and leaves, have been used to construct buildings. Apart from naturally occurring materials, many man-made products are in use, some more and some less synthetic. The manufacture of building materials is an established industry in many countries and the use of these materials is typically segmented into specific specialty trades, such as carpentry, insulation, plumbing, and roofing work. They provide the make-up of habitats and structures including homes.

Rapid development of modern technology needs the support of new material. New material together with information and energy are known as the three pillars of modern science and technology. The birth of new materials will lead rapid development of related industries and technologies. Architecture is one of the examples. The appearance of new building materials not only enhanced the original performance of the materials, such as durability, mechanical properties but also the performance of strength, energy conservation, insulation, waterproof, and appearance. Construction materials is developing towards the pursuit of functional diversity, life-cycle economy and recycling. With the change of living concepts and the demand of the multifarious building function, as the very basic elements of construction, building materials will face plenty of challenges.

The primary goal of ICBMC 2019 is to promote research and developmental activities in Building Materials and Construction. Another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working in Nha Trang and abroad. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in Building Materials and Construction and related areas.

ICBMC 2018 will bring together the top researchers from Asian Pacific nations, America, Europe and around the world to exchange their research results and address open issues in building materials, civil and structural engineering, architecture and urban planning, materials science and engineering, Materials Manufacturing and other related field. It is one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of the above mentioned fields. All papers must be written in English and will be reviewed by technical committees of the Conference.
